Guild Quartermaster. The Guild’s iron fist.

Who She Is

Selka Driftmantle keeps the Guild from eating itself.

Before the Frost, she was a logistics officer in a mountain hold - the person responsible for making sure a community of hundreds could survive an extended siege. She knows exactly how much food, fuel, and willpower it takes to outlast a disaster, because she’s done it before. When Shrike assembled the Guild at Hearth, he needed someone who understood resource discipline at that level. Selka was that person.

She manages the stockpiles, runs the mission board, handles payout, and plays hardball in any negotiation where Shrike’s optimism would be a liability. If the Guild has stayed solvent through a decade of emergency operation, she deserves a significant share of the credit.

Appearance

Dwarf, stocky and broad-shouldered, with a frostbitten nose and hair wrapped tightly in leather cord. She carries a heavy ledger at her hip at all times - not a decorative touch, she actually uses it constantly. Her expression defaults to neutral in a way that can read as disapproval if you’re not used to her.

Personality

Dry, clipped, and direct. She says what she means and doesn’t add warmth she doesn’t feel. Her humor, when it appears, is cynical and extremely dry, and you might miss it the first time. She doesn’t hold grudges and she doesn’t play favorites - if you do good work, she notes it; if you mess up, she notes that too, and the ledger doesn’t forget.

She has no patience for waste, disorganization, or imprecise reporting. Come to a debrief with your loot counted, your rations accounted for, and a clear account of what happened. She’ll respect you for it.

She seems to soften when in the Guild courtyard, by the Engine.

Her Role in the Guild

Selka manages the practical side of everything. She posts missions on the board, processes returns, tracks reliability ratings, and handles supply allocation. Pay comes from her. So do the unpleasant conversations when someone falls short.

She’s based out of the Quartermaster’s booth at the Guildhall - usually behind the counter, usually writing in the ledger, usually with a line of people waiting. If you need supplies, approval for a non-standard expedition, or answers about how the Guild’s books work, she’s your person. Bring receipts.
